1.0liter 3 cylinder putting out 500hp. Projected longevity of 20 miles. Not 20,000. 20.

There's a world record for the most power gotten from a 3800 Series II. That number is north of 800 horsepower. I can't imagine it would make it further than 14 feet.

Under what conditions? A stock block/internals?
If you're allowed to replace everything, then it seems to me that the limitation is the cooling system, which eventually you can't make significantly better without completely changing the block.

It's really pretty when it's sitting there strapped to the dyno though I'm sure lol

Ausies already went over 1000hp on the 3800 series if im not mistaken. The thing is an animal of a power plant if built properly.

I'd love to see a picture of that

One of my class mates at university had a 3800 SII in a special edition Grand Prix. Thing was turbo'd all to hell, and the guy even wrote his own fuel and timing maps for it. He kept re-building it for more power, I think he ended up with something north of 600 hp (still to the front wheels) by the time he was done.
He dragged it regularly, and only had slicks for the front (Obviously).

That sounds amazing. I've considered a turbo, since the exhaust is routed RIGHT NEXT to the intake on my car it would involve simply cutting out a section of the exhaust manifold, welding on adaptors, and then a slight re-route of the intake plumbing. The hard part would be mappings and oil and blowoff valves and all that jazz I know nothing about XD
I might just engine swap with a supercharged 3800SII, then buy a tuned ECU from ZZP and start slowly replacing parts with stronger variants so I can get a smaller pulley.
Or just buy an '01 Firebird.
Yeah, maybe that.
